Bible Stories and Bunnies

Happy Easter 2013
This Easter was a chilly one! We headed early out on Saturday morning to attend a Easter Carnival at Gracie and Baileys new school for next year. I love that this school celebrates the child like joy in Easter as I fully believe that it is possible for children to understand the true meaning of Easter and to also experience the childhood fun of the Easter Bunny and egg hunts. I was actually quite amazed at how much the twins understood about Easter this year as it was a remarkable difference from last year. This year they could fully recount the Easter scripture and they focused on their feelings of sadness that Jesus died and joy about him rising again. Last year their focus was more on how the big rock in front of the tomb went boom when it opened and how the angels said "he is gone, he is gone!" They talked alot about how Jesus died and asked many questions about where Heaven is and why we can not go there and come back. I loved talking with them and answering these sweet questions regarding the foundation of our faith.
Going back to the Easter egg hunt and it being a chilly morning...I kind of felt like that worst mom ever because I did not pack jackets and my kids were freezing. Gracie and Bailey loved jumping in bouncy houses, decorating cookies and finding about a billion eggs! After the egg hunt we headed to our cousin's Mary Elizabeth's Birthday party and then to our Church for Easter services. Pulling into the church the twins fell asleep and we had to wake them up in order to drop them off in their classroom. The next morning we celebrating at home and dyed Easter eggs before going to Grammy's for an Easter dinner with family. We had such a fun time celebrating this Easter and we were all exhausted by the end of the weekend.

Spring Program on a Chilly Night

Gracie and Bailey were so excited that Mommy, Daddy and Daddy Bob were coming to their school to listen to them sing at their Spring Performance. The twins practiced all the time at home and at school. Bailey asked me one morning if I could hear them singing at home when they were all the way down the road at school. Last year was their first year in the performance and by the time we got into the church all of the good seats were taken. This year I made sure to arrive early and I did well as I was the first one to arrive and had my pick of the best seat in the house. It was a super cold night for their Spring performance but they looked bright and warm in their sweet yellow outfits. They both did great and I had many teachers compliment me on how Gracie and Bailey really would sing out loud during their practices and performance. I was super proud of my babies on this very special night.

Farmhouse in the City

Today we joined our Twin Club for a play date at a place called "Farmhouse in the City" which is located in Roswell. The little house had lots of activities for our kids to enjoy. They started with playing dress up and Bailey was excited to find that they also had boy dress up clothes. I thought it was super sweet when Bailey started handing me items and he said "Mommy you be a princess." The highlight of the day was when they learned about baby bunnies and chickens as they loved cuddling with them. There was also lots of art work with included making jewelery and painting a canvas picture. The Farmhouse was a tight fit with all of our multiples running around but it was a fun day of playing in the city!

Dunkin Doughnuts

One of my favorite things is watching the joy on my children's faces as they experience something for the first time. Bailey is our sweet eater and he LOVEs doughnuts. We will get him a "special" doughnut for different occasions like his Birthday or holidays. Our car needed to have maintenance this past Saturday and so Preston said "why don't we drop it off at the shop down the road and then stop and pick up some breakfast." It was the perfect occasion to introduce Bailey to Dunkin Doughnuts! When we walked in with the twins in their pajamas, Bailey's face was priceless as he gazed at all the different types of doughnuts. Of course he picked out the chocolate one with  iceing covered in sprinkles and Gracie picked out one that had pink icing and sprinkles. It was funny to watch Bailey devour his doughnut quickly as Gracie just picked the sprinkles off the top of her doughnut. Twins who are so much alike but very different in how they enjoy their doughnuts!

Jump

Gracie and Bailey have loved jumping on the trampoline at their gymnastics class and they always ask after class if they can "bounce" some more. I was half way considering purchasing a trampoline for them for their Birthday but after reading the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations on how trampolines are the number one cause of childhood broken bones I decided against it. I saw cute little toddler trampolines online and so I began checking craigslist for one in our area. I just so happened to be browsing craigslist one night and noticed a listing for one right down the road from us. I looked it up online and the original price was $100 and it was posted for $20. It looked brand new and the mom stated that she had purchased it and her kids just never seemed to fall in love with it. Needless to say, I brought it home and my kids definitely fell in love with it. They both love bouncing and Gracie especially loves practicing all of her different gymnastics jumps on it. I love my little ones being able to get out energy even on rainy days.

Consignment Time

The arrival of Spring also brings the beginning of consignment sale season. We are very blessed with hand me downs from my older sisters and so we really do not ever purchase many toys or clothing but I do love to find a good bargain so I usually enjoy attending at least one sale a season. I said I wasn't going to go this year but I had to drive right past the church where the sale was being held so I decided to stop in and I ended coming out with about 10 items and only spending $30. I love bringing home all of the "new goodies" to my babies. Bailey was super excited about his new GA baseball cap along with his bat and ball set. New games and toys are a God send to any stay at home mom!
