Showered with love !

This past weekend, we were so blessed to be given a shower by Preston's side of the family. It felt a little funny not to be attending with a big belly and to know that the babies were already here but it made for a fun time being able to celebrate Gracie and Bailey. Unfortunately we decided for the twins not to come due to the recent outbreak of the icky flu in our area but we had lots of pictures and stories to share. We are looking forward to family and friends visiting us at home and feel it is still smart to stay away from crowds. Preston's mom, Becky did such a great job decorating and she made all of my favorite food. Now that I am feeding THREE I can definitely eat some extra helpings! I love spending time with family and so it was so nice to see some of the aunts and cousins who I haven't been able to see in a long time. It meant so much that everyone there seemed so invested in the twins and had prayed so hard while we were in the hospital.

I absolutely loved all of the presents and each one seemed so perfect! We received such a great variety of things and they all were still needed in our home. There are so many gifts to name but a couple of them included books, burp clothes, matching twin clothes, diapers, wipes, toys, wall decor for the nursery, and lots of other odds and ends. I was so excited to bring home the new things to show Gracie and Bailey. One of my favorite books we received was "God Gave Us You" and we have already read it numerous times. Bailey has enjoyed playing with a new touch and feel giraffe toy and Gracie seems to really enjoy our new night time cds.
My best friend, Jessica, who I worked with at my first hospice for many years and she also has twins was sweet enough to help Preston's mom with the shower. Jessica's mom made a beautiful cake that represented our little boy and girl so nicely! It is wonderful having a friend who I can call and ask all of my twin questions to.

Something that we have always taken for granted is that our two families get along so good. It was wonderful having my mom and sisters to be able to attend the shower and to celebrate with Preston's family. The twins are so lucky to have two wonderful grandmothers!

McFarland's Miracles

We are so excited to be able to share a glimpse into our new lives as a family of four! Just to catch everyone up .....Preston and I met at Young Harris College where we returned and had a beautiful wedding. We enjoyed four amazing years of marriage and then found out that God had blessed us with a twin pregnancy! Little did we know we would be spending the majority of our pregnancy experience in the hospital, 93 days to be exact! We were so happy to be in very caring hands in the hospital at Emory at Johns Creek. All the hard work was made completely worthwhile the second we saw our Gracie and Bailey. Since bringing them home from the NICU our lives have changed alot it's not just the two of us anymore, we are a family of four!

I am proud to announce that I am officially a "stay at home mommy" after working in the amazing field of Hospice for the last five years. I will miss my coworkers and work greatly but feel as though these two little one's need their mommy at this time. Our days are hectic and usually start with making 16 bottles a day.

Mommy is breastfeeding but we put it in a bottle so we can feed two at once! We go through lots of diapers, around twenty a day. Nighttime can be trying with waking up around every three hours to feed but once we have our coffee it is on with the next day. We love watching Gracie and Bailey discover their world. Since being home Bailey has went from a birth weight of 3 pds to 7pds 14 oz and Gracie has gone from 3 pounds 3 oz to 7pds 7 ozs.

When it is warm outside we love going for walks as a family with our puppy dog Dixie. The twins have definitely starting establishing their own personalities. Gracie loves to be cuddled and has a little more of a demanding cry "she is a girl who knows what she wants." Bailey loves to play with his toys and is content just about anywhere or with anyone. We are excited about being able to have a new way to share updates and pictures with all of our friends and family.
