Spring Program

I am so proud of Gracie and Bailey for performing in their very first Spring Program at School. We attended the program yesterday evening along with Preston's parents. I had no clue how many proud parents and grandparent would be in attendance and we got there barely in time to grab a seat. Next year I will know how to properly be a proud parent and we will be arriving to much earlier to save seats! During the program the two year old classes sang "If you are Happy and You Know it," "The Wheels on the Bus," "Deep and Wide," and "ABC's." They also sang in combination with the 3 year old classes on some Spanish songs. Gracie performed almost all of the hand motions and at one point in time she almost got so into it that she came close to jumping off the stage on accident. In the beginning Bailey looked very overwhelmed at the number of people watching them but about halfway through the songs he decided to participate in the hand motions. My babies looked so big up on the stage singing. After they were given a marsh mellow stick from their teacher for doing such a good job. I am so proud of Gracie and Bailey for working so hard on their songs and for being brave for their performance.

The little things

It is the little things that keep me going throughout my days at home with the twins. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love being at home with them but sometimes it can get exhausting. This morning we were having our coffee "I put apple juice in teacups for the twins" and reading our bible story for the day. The story was on Moses and how God gave him a set of rules to follow. We went over the rules in our home and I asked the twins "what makes God happy?" As soon as I finished the question Bailey said "Cheerios" and his sister followed with "following the rules." I could not help but to bust out in laughter at my little buddy's response. It was so in the moment and brought so much joy to all of us as we all laughed together. I wanted to record this so one day we will look back and remember the sweet times that we have been blessed with.

Bailey and Daddy go to UGA

This past weekend Preston, Bailey and Grandpa Miller traveled to Athens to attend the G Day game. This was Bailey's first visit to Athens. He was so excited as he has a GA book by Vince Dooley that we read to him that has taught him all about UGA. I was on call this weekend and so while I was busy working my Mom toook Gracie to her cousin Lauren's 5th birthday party. I really think that Bailey and and Gracie each enjoyed their individual time apart as they are always together. Bailey felt like such a big boy being able to hang out with his Daddy all day long. While in Athens they ate lunch downtown, yes this was Bailey's first time in a Bar and of course it was not under my supervision! Next they walked around campus and then met up with Aunt Kara to attend the G Day game. Daddy reported that Bailey enjoyed lots of snacks and loved watching the football players and the marching band. I am so glad that my little buddy had such a special day with his Daddy!

He is Risen!

This year was a BLAST celebrating Easter with Gracie and Bailey. They were so excited about the Bunny coming and they truly were able to understand that it was a celebration that Jesus had risen. I am pretty sure that last year they had no concept that the holiday was religious but this year they brought home adorable little Easter story shoe boxes and they both could tell the story of the tomb and Jesus rising. We had reiterated the meaning of Easter at home but I was a little surprised when I was in the playroom with Bailey and he looked at me while playing with his Easter box and said "Jesus died on the cross." I honestly had not gone over this with them as I wasn't sure that their little two year old hearts were ready for that amount of the story. I wasn't mad at all that he knew this and my heart was overjoyed at the knowledge in his heart. Sometimes momma's just need a little nudge to not be too overprotective and I am glad that their school helped me realize that they were ready for this knowledge.
The night before Easter Gracie and Bailey both had a talk with Dixie to tell her to not bark at the Easter Bunny. They were so excited when they woke up and saw their baskets full of goodies. They played with all of their toys and then noticed that the Bunny had hidden eggs in the backyard. They went out to find all of their eggs in the pj's before we got ready for Church.
We attended the 11 service which was nice because we had plenty of time to get ready. Gracie's Easter dress was extra special because it was her big cousin Molly Kay's hand me down dress that she had worn as the flower girl in our wedding, "how neat is that!" After church we headed over to Preston's parents home to watch the Master's we enjoyed a delicious Easter dinner cooked by Becky. We were happy to have Preston's Aunt Pat and cousin Bill join us for the day. The twins took great naps at Grammy's while we watched the Masters which worked out great. By the end of they night they were exhausted and I felt like we all needed to recuperate from our fun Spring Break Week. It was back to school on Monday morning!

Family Easter Celebration

Saturday night we decided to have Preston's side of the family over for a little Easter Celebration. We were excited to have his brother, Bryan in town from Charlotte and also Ashley, his sister Kara's boyfriend who is in school in Mississippi. We started off the celebration by dyeing eggs with Aunt Kara. I wasn't sure if the twins would be patient enough for the process but they did pretty good. Their favorite part was putting sparkle on the eggs. Their cousin, Baby Mary Elizabeth even joined in the fun. Once the family arrived we played corn hole and grilled out. Whenever anyone would ask Gracie and Bailey what we were celebrating they would say "Jesus Rose." I was glad that they were starting to understand the meaning of Easter in their own little worlds. It was a fun get together as the twins loved having everyone at their house in preparation for our big Easter Celebration.

Easter Carnival

On Saturday before Easter Sunday we attended an "Easter Carnival" which was hosted by the church where the twins go to preschool. The Easter Carnival was a great way to celebrate the special holiday of "Jesus being Risen." We arrived and Gracie and Bailey were SO excited to see their teacher, Mrs. Liliam at the registration table. I am glad that I was able to get a picture of the twins with her because they absolutely have loved having her as a teacher this year. She has been such a blessing in their first year of school! The carnival started with an Easter Egg Scramble where Gracie and Bailey found lots of eggs with different surprises in each one. Next they enjoyed popcorn and cotton candy. The bouncy house was a perfect way to get out all that energy from the treats in the eggs. They were so excited to see their friend Joshua at the carnival. There were also fun games to play at the carnival like the bean bag toss and Duck pond game. The twins had so much fun and the Easter Carnival was a great way to start our Easter celebration!

Visiting the Easter Bunny

We had planned to originally go to Macon for Easter weekend but we made a last minute decision to stay at home, avoid the traffic and to spend time as a family together. The twins and I were so excited that Daddy was home for good Friday. We took Gracie and Bailey to the mall to visit the Easter Bunny. Last Year they were scared to death of the Bunny so we were not so sure how it was going to go. They actually did great as they were excited to let the Bunny know what they wanted in their baskets. Gracie sat on his lap and Bailey chose to sit beside him which was really good for Bailey. At one point in time the Bunny put his arm around Bailey and the look that Bailey gave him was hilarious. After visiting the Bunny the twins went on a choo choo ride with Daddy and we visited the Disney store which is one of their favorites. From the the Mall we stopped at Wills Park for a picnic and to play on the playground. The weather quickly became cold and drizzly so we didn't get to play too much but the day was perfect for spending time as a family.

Pool and Picnic

Gracie and Bailey are out of school this week for spring break so we have been having lots of fun. I can't believe how HOT it is already and I feel like we are in for a super hot Summer if this is what Spring has already brought us! We broke out our swimming pool for the first time on Monday. I was amazed at how small it looked as I remembered it being bigger last year but I guess the true reason is that my kiddos have gotten bigger. They were not too sure about it at first but then when I turned on the sprinkler part of the pool the laughter was nonstop. Daddy even joined in on the fun when he got home from work. He looked at me "sunning" next to the pool as the kids played and said "you sure do have a rough job." Days like this one do pay off when you are a stay at home Mom!
Today we headed to our favorite park and we fed the ducks and played on the playground along with a picnic lunch. The kids always love feeding the ducks. The playground was full of "big kids" who were also out for Spring Break so Gracie and Bailey seemed to enjoy just sitting back and watching the craziness. They were so sweet during their picnic lunch. I am not too sure what the rest of the week will hold but we are having fun enjoying this little break.
